Economy of Southeast Sulawesi in Quarter III 2020 Contraction Minus 1.82 Percent

Abstract

  • The economy of Southeast Sulawesi in quarter III-2020 as measured by Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) at current prices reached IDR 33.27 trillion and at constant 2010 prices reached IDR 23.76 trillion.
  • The economy of Southeast Sulawesi in quarter III-2020 contracted by minus 1.82 percent (y-on-y) compared to quarter III-2019 which grew by 6.43 percent. From the production side, the Mining and Excavation Business Field experienced the deepest contraction of minus 6.60 percent. From the expenditure side, the deepest contraction occurred in the Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB) component of minus 3.28 percent.
  • The Southeast Sulawesi economy in the third quarter of 2020 grew by 4.65 percent (q-to-q), an increase compared to the previous quarter. From the production side, the highest growth was achieved by the Construction Business Field at 14.82 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, it was achieved by the Goods and Services Export Component, which grew by 34.88 percent.
  • The economy of Southeast Sulawesi until the third quarter of 2020 (c-to-c) experienced a contraction of minus 0.06 percent. From the production side, the deepest contraction occurred in the Transportation and Warehousing Business Field, amounting to minus 5.77 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, it occurred in the Component of Consumption for Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households (PK-LNPRT) amounting to minus 3.96 percent.
  • In terms of production, the agricultural, forestry, and fisheries business fields gave the most dominant contribution to Southeast Sulawesi's GRDP, amounting to 23.44 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, it was achieved by the Household Consumption Expenditure Component (PK-RT) of 49.04 percent.
