Employment data collection activities were first implemented in 1976. To date, Sakernas undergone various changes both in the enumeration period and the sample region and household. 1986 to 1993 secaran NLFS conducted quarterly, 1994 to 2001 on an annual basis every August. In 2002 to 2004 in addition to an annual basis was also carried out on a quarterly basis. While 2005 to 2010 Sakernas conducted biannually in February and August.

With the urgency of the demands of employment data both variations, continuity, recency and increased accuracy of data generated, the data collection period 2011-2014 Sakernas quarterly ie February (Quarter), in May (second quarter), August (third quarter), and November (Fourth Quarter) the presentation of the data is designed to level provinsi.Untuk Sakernas activity in August (2011-2014) in addition to the quarterly sample also contained additional samples, for the purpose of obtaining an annual rate as estimated data presentation to the district / city.
